Get Heel Pain Relief Today

Heel pain or heel spurs is one of the most common conditions treated by Dr. Sempka, it is often a result of unstable biomechanics of the feet, ankles and or lower limbs. Mal-aligned biomechanics and posture can place excessive load on the calcaneus (heel bone) and soft tissue around and attached to it, such as the  achilles tendon & plantar fascia.

This repetitive stress may also result from alments such as being overweight, being overused, improper and unstable footwear or systemic diseases such as Rheumatoid arthritis and Diabetes. Through research and experience this stress often results from injury whilst walking, running or jumping on hard or uneven surfaces.

Alternatively Heel pain can affect children commonly between the ages of 8 to 14, as they become increasingly involved in sporting activities. This condition is called Sever’s Disease (growing pains) and can be quite debilitating for very active children. Kids commonly complain of pain during and  after running and jumping especially at night. Experience will show that primary cause of the pain is tension of the Achilles tendons and or calves pulling on the active growth plate of the heel bone. Although your child will eventually grow out of this condition, management and treatment is often required to allow the child to return to normal and intense sporting activity and to be pain-free. This is a condition rarely seen amongst inactive children. The condition most likely to affect adults that has a similar presentation (yet related to tight and/or inflammed muscles and not an inflammed growth plate) is that of Achilles Tendonitis.

If you or your child is suffering from pain, inflammation, tenderness or immobility related to your feet, heel or arch pain contact Dr. Sempka for a chat to see if this is something that may need an early assessment and treatment.
